TO ALL INVESTIGATORS of Mormonism: I promise that God will answer your prayers and let you know through the undeniable power of the Holy Spirit that the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is true! Those who tell you otherwise have been deceived by Satan himself or are intentionally leading you astray! TO ALL MEMBERS of the LDS Church: I promise that as you bear testimony of Joseph Smith’s prophetic mission and the truths that were restored through him, you will be blessed with happiness and …

This timeline has NO bearing on where Joseph got the idea for the endowment ceremony. Both Joseph Sr. and Hyrum were Masons long before Joseph. Don’t forget that a guy named Gadon was a leader of the early Masons and presto- changeo Gadianton robbers appeared in the Book of Mormon. And don’t try to shovel that fable of Masons handing down these ceremonies from Solomons temple. That a load of B.S.
The church lied for over a hundred years about Sidney Rigdons early whereabouts. A recent find in an old newspaper put Sidney in the same town as Solomon Spaulding many years earlier than the church claimed as the gospel truth. They also denied a story about Joseph Smith being charged with a crime of glass looking. When the proof was shown the church had to recant and soften the charge as not really that bad and Joseph repented. Joseph didn’t repent. He kept digging for treasure.
Waynethewriter, No handshakes? You sure? Did they take them out? Were you married in the temple or just did temple work? I know that there were handshakes, tokens, and death oaths up until the early 80′s and late 90′s. My father told me the death oaths stopped until the 80′s but I wasn’t aware that the handshakes stopped as well. Let me know if things have changed again. I’m just curious now.
Correct. There’s no “handshakes”. You see, anti-mormons often says “handshakes” and “signs and token” as if they’re separate. The “handshakes” ARE sign and tokens. NOT handshakes AND signs and token. The public gets confused. I am not married. In UK it’s illegal to marry in temple, but sealing is permitted. We need to be married in public place, i.e. Church.
You believe in newspapers? At Media Studies, we were taught not to believe the newspapers. Enjoy Sunday Sport…
Morph to fit the societies? Possibly. It’s not wrong to adjust our life on Earth in harmony of the Gospel.
monitorpotato – If telling yourself those negative stories helps you sleep at night, then continue to repeat them over and over again.
However, anecdotes don’t change truth. And they certainly don’t fill in the hole left without the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Spirit of the Lord in your life.
Quit chewing on “old bones” outside, and come into the “revelatory banquet” inside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
zmcleod – Doesn’t it ever get a little boring talking and talking about Mormonism, and yet not actively participating in the faith that Jesus Christ himself restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith?
God wants to bless you with so much, yet you are turning your back on him.
Thanks for the information… I didn’t know that I was turning my back on him, but now i know… Hmmm, I am turning my back on him because I am not Mormon? My comment wasn’t negative at all and it wasn’t tearing down mormonism. I was honestly curious if things were changed in the temple. My father is Mormon so we talk about this kind of stuff. I whole heartedly read the BoM and prayed to God and… I just got a different answer than other mormons. I guess I’m just doing it wrong… ?
Gotchya, thanks again for clarifying. I didn’t know that in the UK you couldn’t marry in the temple, that’s interesting.
well said brother, if everyone could just see for themself just one of the many blessings that we partake in regularly, We wouldn’t need to be on the you tube.
Sorry, I misinterpreted what you wrote as being sarcastic and jumped the gun on my reply.
Continue to chat with you father about things. Everyone’s conversion experience is different.
I personally became truly converted to Jesus Christ through the spiritual experiences I had while reading the Book of Mormon.
For many, the answer does not come instantly. But it does eventually come. Often times through sincere prayer and fasting.
And when God knows that you’re ready to follow the answer.
It’s just the law of the land. You can marry in temple in USA, but not in the UK. By law, you must be married in public place, Temple isn’t exactly public, so we can be sealed there though.
About changes… there are not much changes during my time (LDS converts for 14 years). So, MAYBE there are some changes prior to my convertion. I can easily ask the older members in my ward.
Hey again Wayne, as for the other side’s argument it would be explained as that there are 3 different heavens mentioned in the bible. One heaven in the bible is the sky where the birds fly, another heaven is where the stars are, and the final heaven is where God lives. When Jesus ascended into heaven, it said he went through the heavens (plural). Later in verse, It also talks this third heaven being paradise. I think this would be the same paradise for the thief on the cross?
Oh, it’s ok. I actually read mine again and I can see how it could have sounded, so i get where you are coming from. If that was sarcastic, that would be kind of mean! I know how much the temple means, and I don’t want to cause disrespect. Sometimes though I do argue. On other issues I like to debate and bring up points when I see them but I try my best to be respectful. I do talk a lot with my father about these things. Thanks for the comments and being respectful, appreciate it.
About the heavens in the bible. It can differ from one meaning to another. Paul did mention third heaven, so, there is ongoing theme of “three” throughout the bible. As for paradise for thief. Paraside is just a state of mind rather than literal place. sinners and saints can co-exists but at different state. If you’re not sure what I am saying, feel free to send me via inbox and I will explain in depth. Wayne
Def M – hey, that could be a rap name. You said – Quit chewing on “old bones” outside, and come into the “revelatory banquet”.
These might be old bones to you but not to me. I had a chance to read a few of your comments and I can see a guilt trip being presented. Being a member of the lds church does not guarantee salvation bub, or is it bubbet? You want to pay for it? That’s not Biblical. Oh, I forgot, you don’t agree with all of the Bible. Only the parts Joseph told you to believe.
That is pure speculation about paradise. So Jesus and the thief on the cross went into a state of mind. Is this like the Catholic purgatory?
Oh how senile you are! We do believe in the Bible and we do agree with it. How would you know if we didn’t? Are you LDS? I think not…now listen here. Joseph Smith told us the believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon is just another Testament of Jesus Christ. How about you read the cover. There are three stages of heaven that we believe and God and Jesus Christ dwell in the upper most. We don’t believe that you have to be LDS to go there but you do need to be faithful in Jesus and the Bible.
Yeah back in the older days your prophets preached that jesus and satan were brothers, believed in blood atonement, believe in becoming a god in heaven, belived blacks were cursed with their skin. Dude my wife was a devout mormon for most here life. Thank god she got out this religion. She looks back and sees how silly really it is and realized that this religions bible has no connection to the real word which is the bible!!!
Salvation comes through Jesus Christ and his gospel.
And surely not from cynicism.
If God had never confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon weren’t true – then I would have never believed in it.
Had God never confirmed to my soul that the Prophet Joseph Smith was called of God, and did in fact see Jesus standing on the right hand of God – then I would not still be a member of this church.
I love the Bible. And I love that the Restoration makes everything clear, simple and plain in it.
phantomfn8 – There are some who have no desire whatsoever to experiment upon the word of God to find out if it is true or not.
They wander, ever learning, yet never coming to a knowledge of truth.
The Book of Mormon has been presented to the world by Jesus Christ himself.
The world is on trial to see what they will do with God’s restored truth.
Kferret – AS I read your text, there is nothing to desire.
It shows a lack of reverence and an abundance of boring anti-Mormon buzz phrases.
Know that God still loves you.
The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift and is here for the sharing.
I don’t think this speaker knows the New Testament at all. I look to Jesus. The temple was destroyed in 70 AD. The veil was ripped when Jesus finished His work on the cross. The NT says that God doesn’t dwell in temples made of human hands, he dwells in the hearts of those how believe in Him. The temple in the OT was made for animal sacrifcies anyways.
