President Gordon B. Hinckley on Blacks & the LDS Priesthood

www.youtube.com is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. In 1978, an official declaration of the First Presidency reported that a revelation had been received by Mormon Church President Spencer W. Kimball directing that all worthy men be allowed to receive the priesthood. Until 1978, men of African descent had not been permitted to receive the LDS priesthood, although they could become members and serve within the church. Elder David B. Haight was present when …

We don’t keep track. It isn’t important. We don’t segregate our congregations by color or nationality.

Dude if you believe in Joseph Smith, i mean this from the depths of my heart:

That God have mercy on you and joseph smith. Lord, your children have lost their way and must be guided back to your righteous side. For with your guidance the blind will see and the liars speak true. In his name,

    Amen.

Have you ever read the Book of Mormon in its entirety?

  8. biggie09 says:

Over an open fire, i reach out my hand and feel it burning i will pull it back
when i hear lies i speak the truth
when i read a book of lies i will close it.

if all the book of mormon words told the truth but held a single printed lying word, that would still tip the balance in favor of the lie, therefore making it false.

  9. lds9999 says:

So that’s a no, that you’ve never even read the Book of Mormon?

  10. biggie09 says:

    yes sir i have
    probably some nephi
i started reading but started laughing than i got mad, so i just closed it with an angry laugh.

  13. Drummur says:

This guy has way to much money!

  14. lds9999 says:

Too much money? I think you must have him confused with somebody else. He had a very modest job throughout his life and lived a very modest life.

  15. Drummur says:

No, I just mean that religion now is all about money for the most part…and I mean at the heart of the organizations. He is at the heart of that particular organization isn’t he?

  16. lds9999 says:

President Hinckley has passed away. It sounds like you don’t know much about him, but rather have something against religion in general?

To answer your question, Jesus Christ is the heart of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, not any man. Would you like to learn more?

  17. Drummur says:

I DO have something against religion in general. lol. I’m just trying to say that the Mormon church is the richest church in the world, and I would love to get real data specifying where that money goes to…other than building pretty temples. (by the way I’m not at all trying to be rude, just so you know. I appreciate the discussion we’re having).

  18. lds9999 says:

I think you’ve forgotten about the Catholic Church, haha, whose assets are worth far more than the LDS Church.

The LDS Church has released figures on the amount given to charity. It also supports missionary efforts throughout the worlds, builds chapels for millions of people to worship in, and helps millions across the globe.

  19. Drummur says:

That’s cool, and maybe you’re correct to a degree…but that’s a lot of money is all I’m saying. lol. I just personally don’t believe in having to build huge things for people to worship in, when small things work just the same. (It’s like that for every religion is what I’m saying though of course)…

  20. lds9999 says:

But it also may be more economical to build larger ones that serve a larger area than to build many small ones, right? The LDS Church bases the size off of the number of members in the area who will have access to and worship in the temple. Sometimes they are fairly large, sometimes they are relatively small.

  21. Drummur says:

Cool. Anyway, my point from the start was that religious organizations have too much money… that’s all I was saying. Big cathedrals of glass and pretty stone…like, it’s all really attractive, but I mean true spirituality looks past that anyway, right? Nice chattin’ with ya. :)

  22. lds9999 says:

Nice chatting with you too. I would encourage you to visit a local LDS Church to see what it’s like. You can find the nearest one to you at maps*lds*org. Let me know if you ever have any other questions.

  23. Drummur says:

Ha, I have actually, many times, since I’ve dated a Mormon in the past. lol

our church leaders loves the black even during early times of our church. check Mormon Leaders Heart on Blacks part 1 & 2 youtube.

  25. leSavaii says:

Many Christian Faiths practice what the LDS.Church practices (TITHING) and it is evidenced that God blesses the LDS.Church more than these other Christian Churches. But they all study the same Bible & worship the same God..My question is WHY? Certainly the LDS.Church is doing something right, don’t you agree? What do we do with the money? As we speak, hundreds of new chapels, several temples & meeting houses are under constructions. Our welfare system is first to none & many other programs.
