you really need to clarify the baptism for the dead- you say you get names for dead-longtime ago. they should be relatives not obama’s mother or jews killed in wwII. very unclear video-muddies the water. fix it!!

Baptism by itself does not achieve forgiveness, that would be pretty contradictory of all the other principles Jesus taught about . Good of you to request clarification. Proxy baptism is just one of those many necessary principles in His gospel. We just believe that all those who lived before Christ (and after, never having heard of Him) need the opportunity to have baptism–otherwise, it would be pretty unfair.

Dear Viking i thought the only purpose of baptism is for remission of sin in the flesh I find it interesting that you stand as a proxy without repentence first being established by that individual
if so what your saying is baptism achieves forgiveness it sounds kinda interesting please explain

no, when one is baptized for the dead, it’s more of being there for them, we don’t take upon the sins or anything. Then the dead can choose if they will accept it or not, and if they accept it, they can receive forgiveness.

Does standing as a proxy does that mean your standing for their sins on Earth and washing away sin because i thought Baptism was about repentence/forgiveness we do in the flesh

Since God does not dwell in temples made with men’s hands, temples cannot be the “gate” to His kingdom as LDS leaders have taught. Here on earth, God dwells in a “temple” built by the Lord Himself known as the Church or the Body of Christ (I Cor. 3:16-17; Eph. 2:21-22).
