Yes, you can. It doesn’t take very long either, I believe the ceremony is about half an hour. The only time constraint to consider is that you need to have been a member for at least a year before entering the temple, I think…but don’t quote me on that, I can’t remember exactly :P !
    Thanks for watching!

    Dear Ahwri

A friend of mine told me that when Brigham Young arrived to what is known as Salt Lake, it was actually still considered Mexico at the time. I moved with my family to Utah when I was 6 and I don’t recall ever being taught that Brigham Young arrived in Mexico while going through the Utah public school system. Did Brigham Young choose Mexico as “The Place” since polygamy was outlawed in the U.S. kind of like Mitt Romney’s father was born to a polygamist family in Mexico?

  3. Ahwri says:

Utah was still considered Mexico at the time, it wasn’t included in the Louisiana Purchase in…what was it, 1802? 1803? I can’t say I have any idea if Brigham Young chose Utah (called “Deseret” at that time, in 1847, as you probably already know), but I would think–and this is MY opinion, not the Church’s–that he and the saints did feel safer there than inside the US because of their unpopular religious practices, such as polygamy. Hope that answered your question! ;)

Great job Sister. The Spirit is with you.

  5. ElderJoseph says:

Did you used to show a church minster doing a deal with Satan in return for money as representative of the other churches in your Temple Endowment pre 1990?

And what about the enactment of slitting your throats as well?

And what about The Masonic Five Points of Fellowship? ( also removed in 1990).

    cheers EJ

  6. Ahwri says:

The Lord has always used symbolism–think of how the ancient Israelites killed animals, sprinkled blood around the altar, and waved pieces of the flesh in the air. That isn’t done anymore, but it doesn’t mean it was wrong or Satanic. Just like the symbolism when we stand, sit, wave, enact throat-slitting, repeat words and phrases, etc, it was and is used, and it isn’t and wasn’t wrong. We’re just not as symbolic a society today–perhaps that’s why things have changed! Thanks for your comment ;)

  7. ElderJoseph says:

I don’t think throat slitting depictions are behaviour in line with the church at the time the New Testament.

But what about the church minister shown as a representative of Satan?

Thats the real way that your church views other religions is that they are from Satan and effectively under his orders.

So why take this one out? Is the church slowly shedding its restoration ideas?

  8. testskriftene says:

To live with God… must I enter and do temple-ordinances?

  9. Ahwri says:

Blood sacrifices were still made in the New Testament. Also, Jesus offered sacrament as a symbol of his blood + body–dos that mean He encouraged cannibalism? No ;)
We don’t believe that Satan orders around other churches, that’s silly! We believe that all churches have some truths, just not all truths (the LDS church itself is in need of more and more truths too–we’re not tired of hearing what God has to say). In a sense, worldliness fills in where truth has not, and Satan influences the world

  10. Ahwri says:

We believe that God requires us to receive sacred ordinances, and that He will make it possible for everyone to receive them. So, yes, these ordinances must be fulfilled, though whether or not they are done in the future as they are now remains to be seen! For now, we perform marriages, sealings, etc., in temples. I love it!

  11. ElderJoseph says:

Hi Awri I know that you believe that all churches have truths but NOT ALL truths even though you yourself admit you don’t have all truths as you are still awaiting continuing light from your Prophet.
I was asking about the Temple Potrayal of a Minister representing and being paid directly by Satan for teaching all the other religions.

‘Worldliness’ did end Polygamy and the priesthood ban so its a good thing I think.

  12. Exodus314IAM says:

Therefore, temples and temple ordinances from “Adam to the present” should be found in the Bible if LDS beliefs and practice conform “literally and completely” to it. But until God revealed the design and use of the tabernacle to Moses in Exodus 25-40, neither tabernacles nor temples were even mentioned! Instructions to Moses for the tabernacle would have been unnecessary if temples were already in use.

  13. Exodus314IAM says:

If “whenever the Lord had a people on the earth, temples and temple ordinances” were part of their worship, no one from Adam to Moses belonged to the Lord!
The first time the word “temple” is used in the Bible is in I Sam. 1:9, where it refers to the portable tabernacle Israel received through Moses. The first permanent temple was built by King Solomon about 1,000 years before Christ (I Kings 6:17).

  14. Exodus314IAM says:

Paul also declared, “God, who made the world and all things in it, seeing that is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands” (Acts 17:24). The book of Hebrews explains, “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an High Priest who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man…

  15. Exodus314IAM says:

But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building, neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us”(Heb. 8:1-2; 9:11-12; 24).

  16. Exodus314IAM says:

Since God does not dwell in temples made with men’s hands, temples cannot be the “gate” to His kingdom as LDS leaders have taught. Here on earth, God dwells in a “temple” built by the Lord Himself known as the Church or the Body of Christ (I Cor. 3:16-17; Eph. 2:21-22). He also indwells the physical bodies of believers in Christ which are called temples of God (I Cor. 6:19-20; II Cor. 6:16).

  17. Bot7637 says:

Mitt Romney’s great grandfather (and mine) were polygamous. Polygamy was lawful in Mexico at the time. His father never was in a polygamous family.

You do a nice job explaining your beliefs. I liked the background music, not too loud, kind of soothing.

It is interesting to learn about other religions. Thanks for sharing.

  20. VIV292 says:

Does standing as a proxy does that mean your standing for their sins on Earth and washing away sin because i thought Baptism was about repentence/forgiveness we do in the flesh

  21. vikingsven88 says:

no, when one is baptized for the dead, it’s more of being there for them, we don’t take upon the sins or anything. Then the dead can choose if they will accept it or not, and if they accept it, they can receive forgiveness.

  22. VIV292 says:

Dear Viking i thought the only purpose of baptism is for remission of sin in the flesh I find it interesting that you stand as a proxy without repentence first being established by that individual
if so what your saying is baptism achieves forgiveness it sounds kinda interesting please explain

  23. Ahwri says:

Baptism by itself does not achieve forgiveness, that would be pretty contradictory of all the other principles Jesus taught about :) . Good of you to request clarification. Proxy baptism is just one of those many necessary principles in His gospel. We just believe that all those who lived before Christ (and after, never having heard of Him) need the opportunity to have baptism–otherwise, it would be pretty unfair.

  24. kateaylett says:

GREAT video and GREAT explanation! Nicely done :)

  25. redhat37 says:

you really need to clarify the baptism for the dead- you say you get names for dead-longtime ago. they should be relatives not obama’s mother or jews killed in wwII. very unclear video-muddies the water. fix it!!
