Shulamitefire:

What does the Cross symbolize? I believe it symbolizes our Savior's atoning sacrifice, his death. Without His Atonement, all mankind would be forever lost. No one can be saved save they turn to Christ their Redeemer, repent, and partake of His Atonement. This is supported in all of our scripture, both old and new.

Let me ask you something, do you believe that if you do not proclaim Christ as your redeemer and savior here on earth, than you go to hell?

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God (1Cor. 1:18). But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world (Gal. 6:14).

I ask, though, why does the Mormon church have Moroni blowing a trumpet occupying the place of the cross of Christ? Should not Christ have the actual preeminence? Is Moroni equal to Christ? Is not the cross of Christ truly the centrality of the gospel? Without the cross there would be no resurrection. With the preaching of the cross is the power of God unto salvation.

What about the Word of Wisdom Who Is God? See John 1 which says that the Word is God. See 1 Cor.1 that says that God has made Christ as our Wisdom. Why bow to the word of mere man, rather than your Maker? Jesus in NT used & instructs wine in remembrance of His shed blood covenant for the remission of sins. This is an example of what I mean by LDS mormonizing & bastardizing the Bible. Please take extreme care.

he was crucified by the PEOPLE. I love my Savior. I know that he lived. You saying that I belittle how he died to save everyone is hurtful. I hope that one day you become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and are able to walk into this beautiful place we call God's House. It is the most spirtiual thing I have ever done. I hope that this maybe helps you understand more of what we do and why we do it.

We have replaced the wine with water because of the Word of Wisdom. We do not consume Alcholic Beverages. D&C 89:57.
We don't focus much on the death of Christ, but rather his life. The Miracles performed, the people helped, and the burdens lifted. We do believe that he died on the Cross on Calvary Hill for the sake of man and for the atonment. We believe all men are saved through the atonment, but his life was a miraculous one. We do not 'belittle' the blood of Christ, nor the Cross on which

Jesus declares that only wine is symbolic of His shed blood. No wonder the Mormon church is so poor in God's economy! They belittle the blood & the cross of Christ. They replace water for the blood & a trumpet for the cross.
