It is safe to say that most kids would not reply to the question “what do you want to be when you grow?” with the answer -a professional tour guide. I think as a child I wanted to be a fireman, astronaut, or professional basketball player. Fast forward 33 years later and that list has completely changed.

I was hoping to use the intial post to introduce myself and Edelweiss Tours. After serving a 2 year mission in Zurich Switzerland I returned home to attend college, there I met the love of my life and was soon married. I wanted to share my love of the countries I served in; Switzerland, Germany, and Austria with my wife. Being young and limited on cash flow we begin planning and saving for our big trip. We would spend a total of 3 weeks in Europe with 2 of those weeks specifically in Switzerland. We were able to create life long memories that we still cherish to this day.
We shared our travel adventures with family and friends through pictures and stories. Not long there after several family members and friends began to ask me if I would be willing to take them to Europe also. Before I knew it I was sharing the beautiful country of Switzerland with large groups of family and friends. My wife eventually said to me, “its probably about time you started doing this for a living”. I took her advice and created Edelweiss Tours, and I have been leading small group tours to Switzerland and Italy for almost 10 years now.
I decided if I was going to run my own tour operation that I would do it a little different than most. Over the years I watched as large tour groups were rushed from sight to sight, spending most their time loading and unloading their tour buses, and changing hotels every 2 to 3 days.
There had to be a better way to experience a country than this I thought to myself. From that point on I decided I would only offer small group tours, we would not be in a bus rather use the local train system, and we would not change hotels every 2 to 3 days. Small group tours allows you to have so much more flexiblity and mobility which equates to a much more rewarding vacation.
Edelweiss Tours was recogonized by Switzerland Tourism for the way we operate our tours. We joined a small handful of tour operators that are Certified Swiss Specialist through Switzerland Tourism. We are proud to be number among the few and go out of our way to ensure the best tour possible.
One of our favorite tours is the 9 day Best of Switzerland Tour, which guarantees to amaze you! From Zurich to Zermatt you will see the best that Switzerland has to offer. From its bustling cities to its quiant alpine villages, the scenary will surely take your breath away.
On our exclusive LDS tours we include a visit to the Swiss Temple and attend church on Sunday. What a great combination to a European trip of a lifetime, not only to you see the amazing tourist sights but you will also attend a temple overseas.
To learn more about us and our offered tours check out our website at www.edelweisstour.com
Although I never thought I would be a professional tour guide when I was younger, I am thrilled to have a chance at doing something that I absolutely love!
